Home Movie Cuts was founded in 2009.

Initially I’d set out to be a video editing service only ingesting previously transferred or contempory footage and other media material and enhancing that media by adding titles, effects, transitions, and music to a discerning audience. Something the customer could really treasure with flair and intrique. instead of random footage with no continuity or story.

After a few months I noticed there was a great need for transfering older archived footage full of missed memories from VHS, camcorder, and other videotapes along with even older cine film footage. 

So many memories exist, stored on old formats that no one can view or hear anymore. I believed we could solve that conundrum.

Another idea then surfaced. I’ve always had an interest in photography. And had in-fact restored and reprinted many photos that family and friends had found in storage. This was something I could introduce into our services as well. Thus photo restoration and digital transfers from 35mm slides were added to our line up.

All videotapes, cine films, slides, and photographs that are delivered to us are treated with the upmost care. All our customer media items can be found at our studio location at Palm Springs in California.

As media specialists, it is our mission to bring back your precious memories stored on videotapes, cine films, slides and other older formats to the present digital media like DVD, CD, USB, and Upload-able Digital Files so these memories can viewed again and preserved for future generations.

Growing up I was always fascinated with moms old Brownie Super 8 film camera. The memories on film it had produced. Playing them over and over again. Memories of days past prior to my existence. Though sometimes those films were shot out of context. It drove me crazy. I wanted to see those segments of events told in continuity, So I grabbed a pair of scissors and tape, and story be told. Unfortunately for me, I was sent to my room awaiting punishment when my father came home.

Too bad then, I couldn’t had uploaded those films to the cloud as we can now. And share those wonderful archived memories with all whom we care.

I love taking images and creating stories. Editing by way of weaving photos and videos together along with music, foleys, and titles, does just that. It creates an enhanced magical experience for those whom you share, to remember and feel all over again.
